The Board Short As The Ultimate Beachwear

By James McFadden

Board shorts are now part of regular beach wear. They are also widely worn by individuals in other sports, as well as becoming part of everyday outfits. Looking like short trouser pants, board shorts are baggy in nature and very lightweight and comfortable.

It is little wonder that the shorts are also popular with people in countries experiencing warm weather. They provide airy comfort and can be worn in all sorts of occasion. The fast drying nature also lend support to their use in water sports.

Surfers and swimmers are not the only ones who prefer them. There is increasing sight of board shorts being worn regularly by fighters in martial arts. These sports require wide ranging movements, and they can be supported by wearing them.

Adjustable waist ties and comfort flys are regular features of board shorts. They are also very easy to wash with a simple machine and tumble cold dry. In terms of designs, most come in funky and colorful artwork that promote surf culture.

These popular surfer shorts also allow water sports enthusiasts to avoid friction based injuries. Many of them are laced with durable water repellant to effect this. It is another reason why they are known to dry fast, and used widely in paddling and canoeing.

Other popular materials that are now part of the manufacturing process include Todos Twill polyester and polyester supersuede. The latter is fast becoming an industry standard due to its qualities and advantages.

The most popular brands that surfers prefer are Billabong, Hurley and Roxy. This is hardly a surprise as they all offer quality designs for all men and women. Large individuals are not ignored, with designs specially suited for them.

Board shorts are now widely available through the Internet. The low overhead allows them to be sold at much more attractive prices than in retail stores. This has continued to contribute to their increasing popularity and use. - 16747
