Best Handheld Computer

By Michael Erikson

There is nothing quite as frustrating as forgetting an appointment or finding yourself out on the go and needing to access your personal documents. It can be enough to make you want to pull your hair out. So what exactly do you need?

The pocket PC has come a long way since its humble beginnings. This device started out as a calculator sized computer that had very limited and basic functions. Later models added the ability to see one line of text. Today's models are much more advanced. You can keep track of important appointments, browse the internet, organize your files and even play games and listen to music.

The pocket PC has come a long way since its humble beginnings. This device started out as a calculator sized computer that had very limited and basic functions. Later models added the ability to see one line of text, this is old stuff today of course.

Today's models are much more advanced. You can keep track of important appointments, browse the internet, organize your files and even play games and listen to music. The current version of the pocket PC operating system is windows mobile 6 but the real breakthrough came with window mobile 5 and was a great relief to handheld computer owners. The pocket PC is by a more general term also referred to as a PDA or Personal Digital Assistant

Some of the abilities of handheld computers are Personal Information Management (PIM), Word processing, GPS navigation, multimedia presentation and many more. Pretty impressive for a little gadget like the PDA.

The conventional pocket PC is already getting obsolete and the new up comer, Windows mobile Smartphone is getting the mainstream's attention. This is the new favorite by both companies and civilian gadget users. It's basically a phone with PC Software and can be used just like a regular PC but in a very portable way of course.

The pocket PC is a great tool to have if you find yourself away from your home computer or office. It is an excellent way to stay in touch. There are some great models on the market today, such as the PalmOs, iPhone, Blackberry and many of the Hewlett Packard brands of smart phones. Even if you already have a cell phone, the PDA can still be used for its scheduling capabilities; however, once you have fully mastered the PDA, you'll never want to go back to a paper planner again. - 16747
